In the picturesque Rue du Cendrier Swiss architect René Favre pictured a luxury hotel, one that would be unique, inviting, and on a human scale. So, he built the Rotary, which opened in 1978. A cosy place, it was, indeed, all Favre, a nonconformist, world traveller and great collector of antiques, had imagined. He designed the hotel's interior to showcase pieces in his collection; the result is a highly original, tasteful and elegant décor.
Warm colours, noble materials, and heavy fabrics abound amid the blend of classic furniture and carefully restored antiques. From his travels René Favre brought back numerous finds, such as the Spanish altar that serves as reception desk, and objects that give each guestroom a very personal feeling. At the Rotary, friendly service complements the refined décor. Smiling, discreet and devoted, the staff add to the delightful touch of soul that makes your stay here unforgettable.
Rue du Cendrier, where the Rotary is located, winds its way through the heart of a vibrant neighbourhood. Centrally located and just a few hundred yards from the Rhone, it is the ideal starting point for exploring the city on foot. World diplomatic capital and international financial centre, Geneva offers fabulous shopping and glittering nightlife. It is also a city of history, preserving within its walls the traces of figures such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Johannes Kleberger.
Forming the city's southern boundary, Lake Geneva, the biggest lake in Western Europe, offers year-round pleasure. Exotic vegetation flourishes in the microclimate, covering the shores. Lying between the lake and mountains, the city truly offers a pleasant place to live. From the top of Mount Saleve, one has an impressive bird's-eye view of the city, lake and shorefront, and, in the distance, the Jura mountains, proving to its admirers that the canton of Geneva is a source of diversion, daydreams and tranquillity.
On the shores of Lake Geneva, discover the extraordinary universe of a visionary architect, a place where refinement and originality form an elegant union.
