The residence of Amsterdam's powerful Van Loon family is located in the heart of Amsterdam on Keizersgracht. In 1602, Willem van Loon co-founded the Dutch East-India Company. The house was built for a Flemish merchant who rented it to Ferdinand Bol, one of Rembrandt's most famous apprentices. The family opens its house and the collection to the public six days a week. When you step behind the stately facade, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful houses in the city. Around 150 portraits are on display in the house. The most important of these is located on the ground floor, in the hall. And don't forget to visit the dining room, and the blue and red rooms. The garden and the coach house are also well worth a visit!
